Musici della Concordia

The Chamber Orchestra "I Musici della Concordia" was founded by some musicians from Rovigo united by their passion for baroque music. The lead violinist, as it was used in the eighteenth century, has the role of "maestro concertatore" or concertmaster, for this reason the orchestra performes most of the time without conductor. The main porpose is to enhance eighteenth century music by the study of manuscripts and treatises of the period.  The ensemble can go from ten musicians up to thirty instrumentalists. Each member performes in many other simphony and chamber orchestras in Italy. Since its bebut in february 2001 at "Palazzo Campo" in Rovigo, the orchestra started a close collaboration with the Teather of Rovigo and the music Conservatory "F. Venezze". "I Musici"  have performed in prestigious halls such as Sala "Maffeiana" in Verona, the antico Oratorio dei "Vanchetoni" in Florence, at the Church "dei Servi" in Vicenza, in a series of concerts "del Ridotto" in Ferrara, in Venice at the splendid setting of the Great School of San Rocco, at Palazzo Chigi in Rome and at Villa reale in Brescia and Milan. For the last two years the orchestra has organized eight concert seasons at the Church of Santa Maria di Nazareth called "degli Scalzi" in Venice. "I Musici" have collaborated with reknowned soloists and conductors such as Maurizio Dini Ciaci, Angelo Manzotti, Marco Scavazza, Marco Schiavon and Sara Bino. The Orchestra has recorded recently two CD's; one for the label "Tactus" with opera arias by Nicolò Porpora with soprano Angelo Manzotti and another with the title "Souvenir of Venice" with music from the Venetian Baroque.

   ...a thing to remember...

It was December 7, 2000, the birthday of one of the girls who would have been a member of the first "directors" of Musici della Concordia. That day was one of those days seem normal but, as I am concerned, has changed 'my way of thinking. Old and new friends were around the table to tell the "latest", with many of them I saw for years. The speeches interspersed by memories more or less faded by time or sometimes slightly retouched to attract the attention of girls tended to paint the employment situation of the moment that was particularly unfavourable, accomplices the misdeeds of politics, we speak in fact the period " post-Tangentopoli ". We could see a very uncertain future for Italy at that time, and not just the music. I have found breeding ground to achieve concrete dream, namely to set up a group that had the opportunity to make music alone beyond the market demands or owner that color the music scene in Italy. The road ahead was now very impervious, fraught with difficulties which could not be imagined, from personal relations among ourselves to the problem of photocopies was a succession of problems that already taken individually seemed insurmountable.

The joy of a concert managed well and maybe even a smile of the people we have, however, taught that it was worth it. It is with this spirit that we started and we are growing, slowly, perhaps too I will tell you, but we know that the musician is basically lazy, we learned everything that is not music, but you need to have it, we created an association which can boast of having organised a lot of concerts ranging from chamber music to symphonic and we did meetings that have enabled us to grow as people.

Even more sincerely I would like to tell you that while no gains that could qualify this cultural activity like any other work there have been several disputes between individuals but also were born solid friendships. Now the group, I prefer to call it that, is going in one direction increasingly qualifying, it does not feel the need to adhere to any initiative for fear of not having thereafter, but tends to refine the repertoire if not other for respect for our mother Music and those who have known expertly produced.

To believe is the recipe, good music to all the meantime.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  Sincerely, Nicola.
